I’m Heidi Gollub, an award-winning editor and travel writer based in Austin.
I landed in Austin after a lifetime of globetrotting.
In 2010, I founded the website Free Fun in Austin, mostly to convince myself I could have just as much fun in my new hometown as if I were still traveling the world.
For seven years, I built a Free Fun empire with the help of an incredible team. When the website had 10,000 articles getting 700,000 page views per month, I sold it to Austin.com.
Since the sale, I have worked as a chief marketing officer, social media director and editor in chief.
I launched nine websites, founded three digital marketing companies, got my MBA and led teams at U.S. News and World Report, Forbes Advisor and USA TODAY Blueprint.
I’m still writing about my travels all over the internet, and am currently serving on the board of Texas Lifestyle Magazine.
